About the Camp Director:

Kristen Newcomb graduated from Westfield State University in 2010 with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Sociology. During her time at Westfield she worked as a before/after school teacher in the local YMCA program. From 2007 to 2011 she spent her summers working as a counselor/part of the administration at a private day camp in Wellesley. During the 2011/2012 school year Kristen worked in the Special Education program of the Needham Public Schools and currently she is one of the administrators of a non-profit after school program in the Needham Public Schools. Kristen started a new chapter at DCH as the Assistant Camp Director in 2012 and is looking forward to continuing working with the wonderful families who are part of the DCH community as our Camp Director.

About the Assistant Camp Director:

About the DCH Assistant Director:

Joshua Walther served as the DCH Program Director from June 2008 to July 2012 when he was promoted to DCH Assistant Director. Among other duties, Josh continues to oversee the administration of the summer camp and year-round programs.

Camp Staff Qualifications and Certifications:

All members of the Dedham Community House Summer Camp staff are run through the Massachusetts CORI and SORI systems prior to working at DCH. In addition all DCH Head Counselors and most Assistant Counselors and Activity Specialists are First Aid and CPR certified.

Camp Health Care Supervisor:

The DCH Summer Camp, as required by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, has a designated staff person serve as Health Care Supervisor. The Camp Director fills this position as part of the job responsibilities. Beyond the on-site Health Care Supervisor, DCH has a Health Care Consultant agreement with Dr. Thomas Lichauco here in town.
